Our Story
Organizational History of B.C.E.R.O.
The roots of Bowman Community Empowerment and Restoration Outreach (B.C.E.R.O.) began in 2021, when two concerned citizens came together with a simple idea: to support local students by providing much-needed school supplies to students attending Bethune-Bowman High School and other students throughout the Bowman community.
What began as a small act of service quickly gained the support of community members, donors, alumni, churches, local businesses, and other supporters who shared a common desire to invest in the success of local youth. The generosity shown toward the school-supply effort demonstrated what could be accomplished when people united around the needs of students and families.
Over the years, the desire to support students, strengthen families, and serve the Bowman community continued to grow. Community members recognized an opportunity to do more—not only by providing school supplies, but also by connecting youth, seniors, and families with educational resources, outreach services, opportunities, and meaningful partnerships.
In 2026, that spirit of community service led to the formal establishment of Bowman Community Empowerment and Restoration Outreach as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. B.C.E.R.O. was created to build upon the foundation established in 2021 and develop a lasting organization dedicated to strengthening the Bowman community.
Today, B.C.E.R.O. continues that commitment by bringing people and resources together to support education, youth development, families, seniors, and the overall well-being of the community.
From a simple idea to a growing community organization, B.C.E.R.O. represents what is possible when people come together with a shared purpose—to serve, empower, and strengthen the Bowman community for generations to come.
